This Week 2026 33
As per usual the last months, the weather has been way too warm, so only a short mention of it this time. I have been finally been starting to get the feeling that I’m going on vacation now, the first time that I’m not at work on a day that I “should” this year. I’m not quite sure if today is the correct day to write, I’m kind of feeling a bit off kilter, but that’s probably because I am worried about small things that I probably shouldn’t be at all, I have my backpack packed, my passport ready, and everything. My mind keeps on catastrophising about everything until I will arrive though, so that I will miss my train, the airport won’t accept my plane ticket and so on. Stupid things, so I go with this stupid feeling in my stomach that something will go wrong.
Seems like I have quite a lot to do back in the home country though, my dad has decided he wants to come along visiting my brother, so we’ll be going with car instead of train, which will be nice. I’m looking foreward to that, we’ll also go for a visit to my sister. I need to visit my mum, and my aunt also wants to have a dinner together. So at least I won’t have to worry that I will become bored at all.
Now that I have packed my backpack I have done most of what I need to do today, so I was thinking I’d maybe take a walk over to the groceries to get my mind a bit off of worrying, going back to the normal routine things, but currently it’s finally some rain, and I forgot my good umbrella at work, so we’ll see, maybe it will be over quickly, we’ll have to see.
Books
I finished off You Robot by J.S. Morin, and it was decent, it was more or less just a connection book between stories I think, and it wasn’t great, wasn’t bad either though, and it was short, so it didn’t take that long to get through it really. Hopefully I will enjoy the next one in the series more, I don’t know, I kind of miss the characters that we lost, and the new ones don’t really feel like they are as good as them.
The next one that I’m through is Critical Density by Nicola Claire, and this was quite enjoyable, it’s also kind of a connection book, as I seem to be only on the second one in the series of the books I’m reading currently. But it was pretty fun, some cool interactions with characters from earlier in the series, and just enough action and drama to be fun, I really quite enjoyed this one, there are a lot of things that she will have to get into the next one in the series though, so I’m kind of worried that things are going to go lost, but we’ll have to wait and see for that, this one was a lot of fun at least.
That was the 50th book that I’ve read this year, pretty early for that, probably some of it is caused that the Black Ocean books that I’ve been reading quite a few of this year aren’t that long, but it’s a nice little ego booster to be able to say that I’ve ready 50 books so far this year.
And after that I started Insurgence by Ken MacLeod, and I’ve been enjoying this one quite a lot so far, for the 50 or so pages that I’ve read of it, it seems to have a bit more politics than the last one. And it’s a fun world to jump back into. It just feels cool, and it’s nice to read things that seem to come from an a bit different viewpoint than many big sci-fi books. Quite enjoyable, and if this one is as much fun as the first one is all the way through, I’m going to enjoy this a lot.
Games
This has been a week where my mind has been all over the place, so I’ve been struggling a bit with some of what I wanted to play, what I’ve been enjoyed the most over the week was refinding Fantasy Life which I had lying on my 3DS, and I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with that over the time, it’s a nice one for being able to let my mind wander, it’s not that complex, but also interesting enough that my mind enjoying it. I’ve been mostly doing fishing and hunting, with some cooking. And it’s a really fun little game, and it’s one where it’s really interesting what they managed to get out of the system. Just a quite a lot of fun.
I’ve also been doing some more of Hexceed it’s quite compelling for me, it’s just a logic game, and not that hard of one mostly, so it’s one that is nice to have going on, just doing one more of the maps. I also now got over the free levels, and started with the DLC ones that I got some weeks ago, and I’m quite happy that I got that so far, and if I get through all of these I probably will get the next level pack as well, will have to wait and see, lot’s of levels before I get there.
I also got back to Enderlillies which is a very stylish metroidvania, and I got through the section that I was struggling so much with the last time, it’s a bit confusing because I’ve forgotten most of the story stuff, and kind of struggle with parts of it after that too, so I’m not sure how much I will go on there, but it is how it is, maybe I will play more of it, maybe not, it was fun getting through the place that I struggled with the last time though.
Other
I’ve been loading up on some more podcasts and stuff to listen to, at least for the travelling time, I’m quite sure I can get more on the way, but well, it never hurts to be a bit prepared. For my travel I won’t really be bringing that much, mostly some clothes, my kindle and my miyoo mini, and this time I should probably not forget bringing som toiletries, I forgot that the last time, at least a toothbrush and toothpaste would probably bee good to bring along.
Well I think that is enough of letting the anticipation and anxiety build up for now, I probably should try to get my mind a bit of that, finding something nice to do, and then not worry too much more before I’m on the way, it’s not like it’s that much that can go wrong, I have my train to catch, and then 4 hours on the airport to get settled, I’ve let myself have a lot of time in every break so that I can be pretty sure that I will be getting around without issues.
